Hardware Overview

Studio - Hardware

Most of the music on this site is created entirely within the computer - from software samples directly into multitrack recording software. This negates in large part the need for a room full of gear. Nonetheless, the collection of recording equipment has been growing and expanding for several years.

Kurzweil PC1X - The latest addition to the studio equipment. An 88 weighted key controller connected to the primary PC running Gigastudio.

Alesis Nanoverb - 18-bit digital effects processor. Connected to aux send bus of Behringer MX-2004a mixer.

Alesis QS6.1 Synthesizer - Master controller keyboard for the studio. MIDI connected into Desktop PC running a software sampler. MIDI also connected to sound modules.

Behringer Eurorack MX-2004a - 20-channel analog mixing board. Multiple outputs connected to Edirol MA-10D monitor speakers and Tascam US-224.

Edirol MA-10D Monitor Speakers - 24-bit 96khz digital input connected to secondary computer and Behringer MX-2004a for monitoring and mixing purposes.

Roland JV-1010 Sound Module - 64-voice MIDI sound module, connected to Alesis QS6.1 through MIDI.

Roland U-220 - A vintage sound module with an eclectic assortment of sounds, many of which are duplicated on the JV-1010.

Tascam US-224 Control Surface - A combination USB controler interface and sound card. Connects to secondary computer for recording multitrack audio. Physical controls (sliders/knobs) interface with software controls inside computer.
